ACT PlanOne of the concerns of our Advisory Board was that our Academy was preferentially targeting those students already destined for academic success. To demonstrate that our Academy attracts and accepts a variety of students, as also witnessed from the demographic comparison chart on page 3, the PLAN test scores are displayed above. The PLAN is a preliminary ACT test that is generally administered in the sophomore year. ACT, Inc. claims that it predicts success on the ACT. It is viewed as the ACT's equivalent of the PSAT. The PLAN® Test includes four multiple-choice tests: English, Math, Reading, and Science with scores ranging from 0 to 32. The chart above demonstrates that our current sophomores are a great mixture of intelligence to include academia experience. This will prove beneficial as our students learn to collaborate and learn from and with each other throughout this program.

Faculties engage in departmental assessment because assessment data facilitate improvement of academic offerings and program planning. Assessment discussions foster re-examination of values at both the departmental and institutional level; assessment also promotes interdisciplinary conversations about student learning throughout campus. Because every department and program contributes to student learning, assessment also bridges academic and student affairs. Governing boards, as well as accrediting and governmental agencies, require assessment activities to make institutions accountable to funding agencies and the public-at-large.
